Live means a shopper can use it today, sometimes in one country or at selected stores. Shopify's Fall '26 Edition lets a shopper point ChatGPT, Claude, or another agent at shop.md to search more than a billion products and check out with Shop Pay, and Shop Pay checkout is inside Muse, Claude Duet, and Instinct. Select Shopify merchants can also be bought in AI Mode and the Gemini app in Canada.

Note on this rowClaude Duet, Grok Bot, and Instinct also offer Shop Pay for brands not on Shopify. For those purchases, Shop Pay uses tokens from Mastercard, Visa, and Discover. American Express tokens are coming soon and are not generally available yet. The buyer stays in control, and the card is never shared with the agent. The edition page also lists Grok Bot for Shop Pay checkout, and a Catalog API commission for agent builders is early access, not generally live (https://www.shopify.com/editions/fall2026). A browser agent on a Liquid or Hydrogen store can finish checkout once the buyer approves (https://www.shopify.com/news/fall-26-edition-developer). October 27: a Catalog beta can list non-Shopify brands that cannot be bought in Shopify checkout, and in the beta only US shoppers see them.
